Missing Quidditch during the winter break, five Ashwinders took part in Cocoa Cup 2014 at Connecticut Sports Center in New Milford, Connecticut. The Game of Thrones-themed tournament consisted of eight teams headed by a captain that were randomly generated based in grouping the player pool by position, gender, and tiers of skill to make the teams as even as possible.

Chaser Joy Yamaguchi became a regular starter on the second-place Targaryen team. She was given a fair amount of playing time in a strong female Chaser lineup. She contributed with a goal and a couple of nice plays on defense.  Ashwinders Co-Captain Derik Wagner served as a depth Chaser on the same squad.

Beater Rod Hasbun played on the third-place-finishing Tyrell team.  He made some nice catches and got a lot of playing time as a regular in the Beater rotation.

Tyler Poole competed on fourth-place Baratheon as a depth Chaser, chipping in with a goal and a tackle.

Seeker Jeff Blum played on Team Stark as their primary Seeker and a backup Beater.

They all gained some great experience playing with and against some of the best in the region (and neighboring regions).  IPA will soon begin training for the spring season and their first game on March 2nd against Westfield State.
